It is well-known that Gita is the essence of the 4 Vedas, 108 Upanishads and the 6 Darshanas. The 18 yogas or chapters of Gita teach the art and science of living life. The 5 th to 7 th initiations have to be given by the Guru, not the physical Guru but the Divine Guru present within. Depending on the state of the aspirant, the Bhagavad Gita can also give the fourth initiation where one can transcend the sthula, sukshma and kaarana shariras (physical, astral and causal bodies). One has to always keep this in mind while reading the slokas and try to understand their significance in each sloka. Each 8 lettered paada of a sloka contains one of the 4 states of consciousness, namely, Jagrat-wakeful state, Swapna-dream state, nidra or Sushupthi-deep sleep and Thuriya. Learning about our role in the universal evolutionary processĮach sloka in the entire bhagavad gita is in Anushtup Chandas. We will be travelling through this journey of the 700 slokas of the Bhagavad Gita as a SCIENCE OF INITIATIONS. This was handed down through the royal rishis(the five levels of rishis : Rishi, Maharshi, Rajarshi, Brahmarshi, Devarshi). Lord Krishna says that he gave this imperishable yoga to vivasvan, who passed on the knowledge to Manu and Manu told it to Ikshvaku. In the fourth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, the Lord says that – Srimad Bhagavad Gita being presented here is a combination of the knowledge given by Dr.RK(Dr.Marella Sri RamaKrishna) through his numerous speeches on Bhagavad Gita with excerpts from “God Talks with Arjuna” by Sri Paramahamsa Yogananda and the meaning of the slokas taken directly from “The Bhagavad Gita” by Annie Besant and Sri Bhagavan Das.
